Your Path - Inside the Invisible

New here? Start with Stage 1.

Every student begins at the beginning - the sequence is structural, not optional. Stage 1 is open now.

Begin Stage 1

Six independent traditions - Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Daoist - have been documenting the same interior journey for thousands of years. Their maps use different languages. The territory they describe is identical.

This curriculum is organized around sixteen stages derived from that research. Each stage has a clear entry condition, specific practices, observable behavioral markers, and a gate before advancement. The sequence is not arbitrary. It is what the traditions, cross-referenced, actually describe.

Every student begins at Stage 1. Not because later stages are unavailable - because the sequence is structural. Each stage builds directly on the capacities developed in the one before it. Attempting Stage 4 without Stage 2 is not accelerated progress. It is a missing foundation. The traditions are unanimous on this point.

Stages 1-6 reflect the research and the curriculum developer's clinical and personal experience. Stages 7-15 reflect cross-traditional research documentation verified through the research but not personally navigated by the founder. They represent the best available synthesis of what six independent traditions have documented across centuries.

The Sixteen Stages

Foundation - Stages 1-3
1
Awakening to the Path
Development of Faith
Before behavior can change, something must shift in the student's motivational foundation. Not belief in a doctrine - the lived conviction that something beyond ordinary consciousness exists, that it is accessible, and that the journey is worth the cost. Without this, the student will quit at the first serious obstacle.
GateA written reckoning: what you believe is possible, what you are willing to do, what you are afraid of. Not a vow. A starting point.

2
Stop Breaking Things
Regulation of Behavior
The only stage endorsed universally - every tradition, without exception. The student ceases behaviors rooted in self-centeredness: violence in all its forms, lying, stealing, and sexual impropriety. This is not moralism. Self-centered behavior is the structural obstacle to spiritual progress. Every act of deception or exploitation asserts "my needs override yours" - the precise orientation that enlightenment dismantles.
GateEach of the four categories worked in sequence - Seeing, then Catching, then Correcting - until 7 consecutive days at a criterion score of 3.0 or higher. Not perfection - pattern shift.

See What's Running You
Regulation of Behavior - interior layer
Stage 2 addressed what you do. Stage 3 addresses what is doing it. Where Stage 2 identified external behavioral patterns, Stage 3 goes beneath the behavior to the interior spiritual contradictions. You cannot fully change these behaviors without understanding the behavioral contradictions that are driving them.
GateSequential completion of the contradiction work with documented pattern recognition. The student can name what is running them - not as theory, but as lived observation.
Gate Mechanism: The Contradiction Work

Seven contradictions worked sequentially, each with daily tracking practice, evening reflection, and pattern diagnosis.

  • Seven contradiction pages with daily scoring
  • Live streak tracker and pattern diagnosis
  • Evening reflection and weekly self-examination
  • Passage is demonstrated, not declared

Concentration - Stage 4
4
Attentional Training
Development of Concentration
Concentration is, per the research, the core fundamental process of contemplative spiritual development - the vital link that carries the practitioner from ordinary consciousness through the absorptions to the enlightenment states. It is here that most wayfarers will either succeed or fail. This stage is not preliminary. It is the engine of everything that follows.
GateOne hundred consecutive days of twice-daily practice. Demonstrable ability to return attention without self-recrimination. Teacher review at Day 90 before the gate opens.

The Absorption Sequence - Stages 5-10
5
First Absorption
First Absorption
A qualitative shift, not a quantitative one. The mind stops alternating between the object and distraction and achieves identity with the object. For the first time, the student is not thinking about the Divine - they are in preliminary contact with it. The subject-object boundary collapses temporarily. Overwhelming ecstasy and bliss. A preliminary dissolution of ordinary ego boundaries.
GateAt least three documented absorption episodes with phenomenological description. The student can articulate the difference between thinking about the Divine and being in contact with it.

Second Absorption
Second Absorption
The emotional intensity of Stage 5 begins to fade. Students who mistake this for regression obstruct their own progress - it is advancement. The subject-observer quiets. The Second Absorption is characterized by the cessation of applied and sustained thought - the effortful directing of attention toward the object falls away, replaced by a unified, effortless absorption. Joy and ease remain, but the mental commentary that accompanied Stage 5 has gone quiet.
GateSustained entry into thought-free absorption. The student can distinguish this quieting from simple distraction or dullness.
7
Third Absorption
Third Absorption
The joy of the Second Absorption itself begins to fade, replaced by a deeper equanimity. The Third brings equanimity in place of bliss - a profound, stable stillness without emotional charge. Awareness without commentary.
GateStable equanimity during extended practice sessions. The absence of bliss is no longer interpreted as failure.
8
Fourth Absorption: Pure Awareness
Fourth Absorption
Equanimity is complete. The mind is utterly detached and pure. The practitioner is no longer watching experience - they are awareness itself. Subject-object boundary is functionally dissolved within the practice session. Unusual perceptual phenomena become available: vivid visions, apparent foreknowledge, understanding that arrives whole without reasoning. The correct response is equanimity - not inflation, not dismissal.
GateFree progression to Stage 9 with teacher contact. Student readiness assessed by practitioner and teacher together. Evidence of equanimity toward unusual phenomena required throughout - no superiority signaling, continued behavioral coherence.
9
Stabilization in Pure Awareness
Fourth Absorption - advanced
The Fourth Absorption must be stable before perceptual permeability is safe to navigate as a formal subject of instruction. Teaching about psychic phenomena before stabilization creates a target - the student begins looking for the phenomena rather than deepening the absorption. What changes is not the depth of the state but the practitioner's ability to return to it reliably and rest in it without clutching.
GateNo separate gate. Passage into this stage is covered by Stage 8's gate - once that clears, progression continues automatically.
10
Psychic Emergence and Navigation
Fourth Absorption - psychic emergence
Once the Fourth Absorption is stabilized, perceptual permeability arises. What the traditions variously call Ruach HaKodesh, siddhi, Teresa's locutions, and divinely infused knowledge are the same phenomenon: information arriving through channels that ordinary discriminating awareness screens out. The dissolved boundary is what makes this possible. These phenomena arise as a natural consequence of the dissolved perceptual boundary - not as supernatural intrusion.
GatePhenomena noted without inflation. No superiority signaling. No identity built around the experiences. Practice continues.
Teacher confirmation required before advancing to Stage 11

The Reality Shift - Stages 11 and 12
11
Beliefs Appearing as Objective Reality
Beliefs Appear as Objective Reality
The student's theological or philosophical framework begins to feel perceptually real rather than intellectually accepted. God - or Reality, or Consciousness - stops being a concept and starts being what is actually here. The map has become the territory. Students in secular frameworks may interpret this as psychosis. Students in religious frameworks may interpret it as doctrinal confirmation. Both are wrong and both are dangerous.
GateThe student can describe the perceptual shift without doctrinal inflation. Behavioral coherence maintained. No withdrawal from ordinary life responsibilities.
12
Deconstruction of the Separate Self
Pre-enlightenment preparation
The pivot between the absorption sequence and the enlightenment states. The self that has been running the entire journey is examined as an object of awareness. The question is not philosophical - it is perceptual: Can the self be found? Where is it located? What remains when narrative stops? This is the systematic application of concentrated attention to the assumption of selfhood.
GateThe student no longer fully believes the self they defend is ultimately real - not as concept, as lived wobble. Demonstrated by reduced personalization in relationships.

The Enlightenment States - Stages 13-16
13
First Enlightenment State
First Enlightenment State
A qualitative breakthrough - described by five of the six traditions as different in kind from all preceding states. Something collapses that the practitioner did not and could not engineer. What collapses is the sense of a separate self doing the practice. What remains - briefly - is awareness without a center. The event is unmistakable in retrospect. Deep conditioning remains and will resurface. Stabilization work follows.
GateThree or more documented episodes with phenomenological description. No inflation. Continued behavioral functioning in ordinary life.
Teacher confirmation required - Minimum 12-month assessment window
What follows is the research's account, grounded in cross-traditional documentation. It is not the founder's first-person report. Human verification at this stage requires a teacher who has personally navigated it.
14
Stabilization and Integration
Transition between enlightenment states
Between the First and deeper enlightenment states, a period of integration is required. The ego - now partially dissolved - will attempt to reconstitute itself around the spiritual achievement. This is the most dangerous part of advanced spiritual practice because the student can mistake this level of attainment for the final Enlightenment. The realization attained here must be tested against the friction of ordinary life. It cannot be preserved in a protected environment. Union that cannot survive a traffic jam is not stable.
GateAt least one year or more of documented ordinary-life functioning with consistent behavioral markers. Teacher confirmation.
15
Second Enlightenment State: Final Union
Final Enlightenment State
All conditioned habits of mind are eliminated. This is not the practitioner's achievement. Every tradition agrees: the final step is grace, not technique. What the student does is remove every obstacle to it. And the final state is not withdrawal - it is return. The practitioner comes back to ordinary life, but ordinary life is now transparent to the Divine. The body continues. Activity continues. Fear does not.
GateThis stage has no gate. It is the destination.
16
Abiding
Post-enlightenment stabilization
Not a new achievement. Stabilization of Stage 14 into ordinary life. The practitioner no longer oscillates between enlightened and unenlightened states. Awareness rests naturally. The self is no longer defended because it is no longer mistaken for what is ultimately real. The curriculum ends here - not because the journey is over, but because further development is no longer a matter of curriculum. It is a matter of being.
